This is the story of Leba's first steps into manhood under the wings of his wise and able father, Jumapili. They are hunter-gatherers living in Kondoa, Tanzania, and their DNA mark them as the oldest people on earth. Jumapili steals his 12 year old son away from school to hunt in the hills and meet a future mentor who resides in a great hollow baobab tree. Along the way, a powerful healing ceremony leaves Leba shaken and when he finally meets his namesake tree, he receives its full blessing.
The film was shot on HD and HDV by Steve Hobbs and Laurance Price and is the first of a series of films exploring traditional and modern coming of age rituals.
