Fabio Scacchioli - 2009.
"dead SEEquences" is a video composed of 3770 frames. Working frame by frame, we find that nothing happens inside each single image, but all pass between the frames, in the invisible gap that separe a frame by others. The film is here, but there isn't something to see, the most important remain invisible and uncertain. There is no truth to discover. The truth is always elsewhere.
This is a study about the vanishing of an image. It's the image of a naked body, the most tangible and real thing for a human being. Not a body, but the image of a body. In this gap operate the principle of disappearance: between the object and his image there is a distance, a limit, a separation; this is the functioning of language, the only way we know to relate with the world and the others. Between each word and his meaning we find this distance as an original sin, a gap where the world disappear to be speaked. To communicate, the world and the human being have to disappear. For this, the art have to become "uncommunicative" and "uncommunicable".

These film sequences are highly pornographic. A nude woman touching herself is pornographic. If she only stood or sat down without the touching is just sensual. Besides that, she's also showing her breasts and sex. I love your film, but it's highly pornographic. Keep making your beautiful creations. Lots of love | M.

Hi Motoko! I'm not agree with you, for me a nude woman is not necessarily pornographic, for me this is a nude movement of forms and light, but everyone can see all he wants, every interpretation have your truth, so...thank you very much!

i get really frustrated when i see a work of such high caliber reduced to a totem in a 'is it or isnt it pornography?' debate as it seriously detracts from the works overall merit! ...so lets have a look at what the law says, get this argument nailed once and for all and move on! the supreme court set the basic legal standard for pornography in 1973 it stated that material would be considered obscene if it met these three criteria 1: the work TAKEN AS A WHOLE by the average person applying contemporary community standards appeals to the prurient interest 2: the work depicts sexual conduct in a patently offensive way 3: the work when TAKEN AS A WHOLE lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value. ...so there we have it, this film is niether highly pornographic or obscene as directed by the supreme court!

I agree 100% what you say. I'm not interested to define what is and what isn't pornographic. The debate is because youtube removed the video for pornographic contents...

...which is a damn shame because it's a really beautiful, well crafted film! ...just sad to see it getting described as highly pornographic!

... umm, right, so it looks like I was reading Jimmy's posting on this film rather than 'dreaming on the way home' and commented in the wrong place.
Anyway, this is an exquisitely beautiful film (and soundtrack) - and as pornographic as a life drawing class to boot.
Actually, I'm quite grateful for the legal info. and the fact that U-tube would want to remove this film for such reason is reason enough for Vimeo ...
But Jimmy is right: lets move on now shall we.

Wonderful and beautifully done. Have you ever seen Carolee Schneemann's work? You would love it.

Hi. I'm new to this world and highly dyslexic so forgive if I place comments in wrong places etc.
I also will try to upload a film when I can get that sort of thing sorted...
In the meantime, I've really enjoyed myself and don't want to go back to 'work' this afternoon - which is one way of saying I value what you are doing
