In response to interest in my performance system GREIS (pronounced "grace"), I've decided to start adding a few videos dedicated to focusing on particular elements of the system. I'm calling this set of videos "saying GREIS".
For the first video I am focusing on the basic sound scrubbing module and parameters, before they are organized into a larger control structure wherein control interfaces are mapped onto it (which, really, is where a lot of the expression and sculptural possibility lies...). This module is based on scrubbing using granular synthesis and STFT-based processing. I use two diffferent granular engines that I've made using basic externals, and two spectral processing modules: one built using the basic Gabor/FTM library and one using a so-called supervp external. For those that are curious, this video demonstrates both granular engines and the gabor-based spectral engine.
