This is a piece I made back in September of 2008. I wore all hats for this one; I wrote, directed, and shot it. It was done for a friend of mine, David Robertson, and his workshop on HIV and aids in the urban African American community. The workshop is titled "A Face of Hope", hence the title above. Not only does this piece confront the disease itself, but also the environment in which it arises. The relationship between place, decay, and disease is explored. But hope has the final word in all of this.
Shot on the south side of Chicago.
