Research and development in various fields of industry and sciences go side by side with the growing demand for strict quality control and high precision dimensional gauging. Machine vision systems should be able to withstand the zero-defect policy of the manufacturing companies in order to minimize costs and maximize product quality. Thus many non-contact measurement applications deal with complex parts that should be checked and measured at various levels of detail and often similar components of significantly different sizes should be measured with consistent accuracy. It’s as well essential to get a true-to-life undistorted image allowing the accurate quality control. Fixed magnification telecentric lenses may not be flexible enough to inspect very small features on larger samples and standard zoom lenses are unable to offer consistent performances due to intrinsic limitations in the opto-mechanical layout. The new multi-mag bi-telecentric lenses by Opto Engineering overcome those issues, thus breaking new ground in non-contact metrology.
