Frankenstein is a 1910 silent film made by Edison Studios that was written and directed by J. Searle Dawley. It was the first motion picture adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It is a little under 13 minutes long. The unbilled cast included Augustus Phillips as Dr. Frankenstein, Charles Ogle as the Monster, and Mary Fuller as the doctor's fiancee.
For many years, this film was believed to be a lost film. Its existence was first revealed in the mid-1970s, thanks to a Wisconsin film collector, Alois F. Dettlaff.
The film, as well as all other motion pictures released before 1922, is now in the public domain in the United States.
The music is the track Molecular Probe, by Cybernetika from his album "The Scythe Of Orion". Cybernetika is an independent German music producer from Cologne, Germany.
Editing done by me using FCPX. The only edits to the Edison film was to retime its frame rate to vimeo's requirement of 30fps and to desaturate and add some contrast. The only edit to "Molecular Probe" was to cut off about a second of silence at the end. It was a nice coincidence that the music and the film had almost exactly the same running times:-)
