Can a leader in business or government still oversee the whole? What would change if we truly embrace network thinking?
I think that we have the tools to offer the leaders in a government or in business to really understand the world, and understand it in a way that they can zoom in to the details. Are they using it? Not truly. These tools are very new. There are hundreds of companies who have been actively using it to actually map out the structure (...), the organization, understanding really what happens within a company, versus wanting to hear the ecostructure that the leader has in mind. We know how to do that, we have done it for hundreds of companies. But hundreds is really small compared to the millions of companies that are out there.
So my answer is: Yes, a leader could really understand what's going on in an organization, could have the dashboard to really have a sense of: where are the communication channels, what are the natural departments versus the artificial departments, where is the lack of communication? But no, it is not used to its full power yet.
