A few years ago my boyfriend and I took his seven year old daughter Jessica fishing.
When Jessica caught a fish I tried to take it from her so that I could kill it and cook it for dinner. She started to scream, totally outraged by the thought of eating this beautiful creature.
We threw the fish back into the lake and instead went to a local supermarket to buy food, Jessica chose fish fingers.

‘Breakfast’ was inspired by this lost connection between the food we eat and the animals we love.

brought to Germany by 'Die Albert Schweitzer Stiftung'

Breakfast has been selected for over 30 international filmfestivals. Most notably Dresden Shortfilmfestival, Anifest, Tampere, Rushes Soho Shorts, Cinanima, Animadrid, OneDotZero and Animated Encounters in Bristol.

Wow. Very well done. This is so dark you made me sad again that I am a part of the machine that is modern food distribution.

Years ago I read Fast Food Nation, Omnivore's Dilemma, etc. All great, enlightening texts but their is one central problem with the organic movement and that is scalability. One cannot deny that it is a marvel of ingenuity that hundreds of millions of people have access to (relatively) clean, affordable food that while lacking in compassion towards it's raw materials has created an amazingly fluid network of distribution. I guess ideally we can hope to have the scalability of agri-business with the compassion of the organic movement.

    Here's hoping we get there.

Thanks for sharing this on Vimeo.
