The Rt. Rev. Wayne Smith officiated at the Mass on the Grass, a eucharist on Sunday morning before Pridefest opens for the day. Four parishes from the Diocese of Missouri moved their main services to this combined outdoor celebration: Trinity, Central West End, St. Mark's St Louis, St. John's, Tower Grove, and Christ Church Cathedral, St. Louis. In addition, clergy and parisioners from the seven Oasis Missouri congregations were in attendance, from other churches around the diocese, and from other denominations. Mass on the Grass was begun by the people of Trinity; this was the first year a Bishop presided over this service. One lone protester tried to shout over the service. During the passing of the peace, over thirty attendees welcomed the protester and invited him to communion, which he declined. Crowd estimated at over 300.
