The disempowerment of veiled women in Lebanon and everyday encounters with stereotypes and discrimination motivated Esraa to try and change something by taking initiative and talking about the problems she has had as a veiled woman.
Due to underpayment and poor working conditions at her job, Esraa decided to open her own consultancy because she's passionate about making change in people's lives and she wanted to help small companies succeed. She is a part of various entrepreneurial organizations in Lebanon, including Bader, the MIT Enterprise Forum, and Cisco Entrepreneur Institute in Lebanon. She was also a finalist in the MIT Arab Business Plan Competition in 2010, and recently received mentorship from the Mowgli Foundation.
Her desire to be heard resulted in creating a blog 7ijabi.wordpress.com/ where she writes about the everyday situations and experiences of a veiled woman.
