Blender tutorial blenderguru.com/how-to-create-stunning-trees/

In the last tutorial we created killer grass that's perfect for any outdoor scene. So why not top it off with some realistic trees? No nature scene is complete without it!

During the tutorial you will learn how to:

* Efficiently use bezier curves
* Use the curve to tree script to generate complicated twigs
* Create low poly leaves
* Properly texture a tree
* Hand paint displacement onto an object

    Wow Andrew, you are amazing. Thanks for posting this. I created a tree the hard way- modeling every single branch. Now it'll be much easier!

    Hello,

    Thanks, it's turning out really well so far and I love that it doesn't require outside programs like a lot of the other tutorials.

    ..however, for some reason I can't get all of the curves to connect to first step of using the script (Generate from Selection). I've tried changing the Joint Width & other options to make it more likely for them to join smoothly, but it hasn't worked very well. I also made the branches children to the main trunk?

    Any help would be wonderful!

    Thanks, very helpful tutorial, but:
    When i use the Fill Twigs feature, i do not get nearly as many twigs as your result and they are going in completely wrong directions. Overall it looks a lot worse. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

    i guess i didn't pay enough attention to the part where the subsurf has to be applied. :-) Great Tutorial!

    how can i import the tree into the Grass file?
  • Tomas Savigliano 1 year ago
    select it all, file>export>.obj and make sure you check apply modifiers if you haven't applied them (you probably still have that subsurf on the trunk.

    open your grass .blend (it's alright to erase all), go to file>import .obj and load up your tree. cash money in the bank, take the hos to bed

    I'm an absolute newby at Blender, and have tried your tutorial on trees. I'm stuck on trying to create a cube for the twigs. The Panels and buttons for the cube show up, but there's no cube in the window. Same for any shape. Any ideas on what I've got set incorrectly please?

    God this tutorial is useful. You're way better at explaining things than most other tutorial creators.
    I didn't even know what a Bezier curve was until now.
