Snowcraft 1, affectionately known as "Happy Camper," is the survival training that field-bound participants of the United States Antarctic Program are required to take. It is designed to teach you the basic survival skills that would help you stay alive if you were caught in nasty weather in Antarctica away from station. It includes some snow-camping basics and anchoring tents to the snow, an introduction to cooking in cold weather with white gas, quarrying for snow blocks, snow-wall building, survival trench-digging, and most importantly self-awareness: know your body's boundaries!! This is a short video I took, giving you a brief introduction to our Happy Camper site. I hope you enjoy!
