'Denial' is a performance art movie in progress about a woman who is so horrified when she learns of brother's sex addiction and the denial and codependence of all her family members, she dreams that she murders him. and the dream is so vivid, she cannot be convinced that she didn't murder him.
These sequences include the inner dialogue of the central character and monologues with/by with family members and friends as she tries to understand the "why" of all the secrecy in her family. I am quite surprised how quickly this story is coming together. My experience with family secrets has been as an adult - my own family are all quite open & talkative. 'Denial' was inspired by a very bad experience I had because of another family's secrets, which, ironically, I never would have learned if I had not grown up in a family where it was not okay to cover up the truth about anything. My upbringing did not prepare me for dealing in close quarters on a daily basis with people who pretended that their glaring dysfunction did not exist.
