In 1843 in Clerkenwell a ragged school set up and run by London City Mission was visited by Charles Dickens. This visit helped inspire A Christmas Carol, published later that year. Today there are still London City Mission workers in the area. Rebekah Pascall explains some of the work she does attached to St James Clerkenwell.
