See all Show me
Highly fascinated by the perception of blind people, I tried to visualize how one would see something beautiful.

Eros is about a young blind man who always struggled with his inability to imagine the world around him. He just couldn't shape things like color and beauty in his mind. This all changes when he meets a curious girl, someone who will change things for once and for all.

Watch it with speakers turned up please!

Crazy talent. I'd be interested to know how much research went into this working with blind people to get a sense of their actual perception or if it was all your own interpretation. Absolutely amazing visuals and sound.
  • Tom Geraedts 3 months ago
Most of it is own interpretation. I contacted a couple of blind people but they weren't really interested. I just wanted to go free and do my own thing actually. I was afraid if I would talk to blind people too much that would interfere with the vision i had in my mind at the beginning. In a certain way I wanted to make reality better then it really might be..
    Thanks for your compliments!

Amazing Work; bravo! how did you create the little fuzzy things that fly over a black background (a bit like some form of dust)?

    Thanks,
    J.

He might have put a layer of the "dust" on top and made it semi-transparent.

Looks like I alone in thinking this looks and sounds nice, but has absolutely nothing interesting to say about the blind's internal perception of the world. A nifty collage revealing a hot chick in the park? I think not.

    What programs did u use?
  • Tom Geraedts 3 months ago
I Filmed the footage with a Sony HC-1 miniDV camera with the twoneill adapter + Nikon 50 mm 1:1.8 Lens.

The 3D is all Cinema4D, and I've played around with those renders in Adobe After effects.

Also alot of preparation in Photoshop.

The flow of the visual strokes- seems to me a perfect representation of the use of a blind persons tactile senses to read their environment.

    Wonderful representation.

    Beautiful!

narrative give much power to the visual; ironically, it's piece about how the blind (might) see that makes is not so one dimensional . . . sensuality, alas, is the liquor of dreams
