This is a video I recorded on 1 July 2009 with Wired editor Chris Anderson, author of Free, during his visit to the UK to promote the book. The recording took place just before Anderson's event at the Bristol Festival of Ideas.
The visit has been surrounded with controversy following allegations that parts of the text had been plagiarized from Wikipedia inter alia, so I was keen to hear what Anderson would say about intellectual property rights in the future. The book itself presents a robust defence of piracy, saying that it is both inevitable and potentially beneficial for some artists. I also ask him whether he thinks the profusion of free stuff actually makes us any happier...
