Each September over the past six years, DGA’s Jan Maliszewski and his crew pack up a truckload of TV equipment and head to Vermont for three weeks to create 13 new episodes of the award-winning PBS series, Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen. As Emmy-nominated director of the popular series, Jan will share the behind-the-scenes transformation from a renovated 1800s Vermont farmhouse to a TV set where family-friendly recipes are scientifically re-imagined for the modern home cook.
Through video clips and stills, you'll learn what’s involved in creating an entire television series in just 3 short weeks. With one of the finest and most-experienced multi-camera production crews around, every shoot-day is beautifully choreographed and every detail is well scripted. Nothing is left to chance – with the production team anticipating the needs of the kitchen along with the high-stakes' demands of TV production, resulting in the perfect recipe – all while recording and eating some of the most delicious food and sharing many laughs.
ABOUT JAN MALISZEWSKI:
Jan Maliszewski is president of DGA Productions, a full-service television production company based in Watertown, Massachusetts, providing production and post-production services to a variety of broadcast and corporate clients since 1981.
For over 20 years, Jan has worked for a wide-range of clientele and projects - NASA, CBS, ABC, NBC, ESPN, Discovery Channel and Feature-length films. In 2001, he shot the Academy Award nominated HBO-sponsored documentary On Tiptoe: Gentle Steps to Freedom – a film about Apartheid-era South Africa told through the experience of the musical group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
In 2012, Jan was nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary Program" for directing the PBS show Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen.
