Dance United – the award-winning charity that believes in the power of dance to transform lives – presented on 20 and 22 October 2012 the London premiere of A Holding Space – an inspiring programme of work that brought together professional and non-professional dancers from across the UK and Ethiopia, at The Place, one of London’s most prestigious dance venues.
A Holding Space, the duet from which this evening took its name, was created by Adam Benjamin and Russell Maliphant for Junaid Jemal Sendi and Adissu Demissie and saw its premiere at Sadler’s Wells 2009. They have danced together since they were children and A Holding Space explores the idea of journeys, both real and imaginary, across two continents.
A Holding Space at The Place was produced by Rob Lynden. This film was produced and directed by Caswell Coggins and Andrew Coggins.
