This video was filmed on location in Albania and produced by David Bird of DB Sound and Vision for Sue Ryder Care. It highlights the desperate situation in Albania of palliative (end of life) care.

The two Ryder Albania Care Teams are responsible for the majority of palliative care in Albania, but have to work with limited funds and resources. They are also responsible for most of the training with GPs and other medical staff in the country and have worked to increase awareness of the need and benefits of palliative care.

The people Ryder Albania help are often in exreme poverty, frequently with little or no income and sometimes with no running water or sanitation. Because of the lack of funds the care teams are not always able to give all the drugs required. if the patient is unable to buy the drugs and oxygen they need the have to go without.
