Terrrific behind the scenes video, boy I bet you wished you had a Zgrip iPhone when you made this. It would have helped in a few shots but I give you credit for your homemade rigs, they did the trick and the shots in your video "Play" are flawless.
    Well done.
Enter this in Philip Bloom's iPhone contest!

it's nuts when the making of is shot on a better camera than the video. Very clever and informative

you guys are amazing for doing this!
It reminded me of the day I ducktaped a tripod to a bicycle with an EOS 500D on it :)

Great production value. The BTS couldn't have been done better. This really shows the value of having it documented. I can't believe that you would choose to shoot this on an iphone when you had a 5d on set! I would have shot it with both if anything. That dreary location would have looked so much better on the 5d.
  • Showdown Visual plus 2 years ago
    Bill,
Agreed that the 5d would look a 1000 times better, but we were only doing the video so that we could make a pro video with the iPhone.

We will do more music videos with the pro HD gear in the future. Thanks for the compliment

Very enjoyable. Am thinking of trading in my BlackBerry for an iPhone, so would be interesting to know/read a post
report on working with iPhone: codec, SD/HD, ease of ingest etc.

I've read of the new 3GS overheating. Did you experience any of that? Also, I too would like to know about the workflow process and how much time was spent to move files off the 3Gs.

Check out the text graphic "Behind the Scenes of the music video Play" that happens around the :32 sec mark. They did a really cool effect. When the camera moves and zooms the text doesn't move... as if it was written on the green wall. Simple idea, but very effective. Great Job gentlemen! Come visit an Los Angeles guy documenting his life (my life) in Eastern Europe for the next year or so :-)
