Bertrand Tavernier's stunningly prophetic sci-fi noir is like nothing else. Opaquely scripted by the brilliant David Rayfiel (Three Days of the Condor, Jeremiah Johnson) and filmed in Glasgow while it was undergoing massive renovation, it is a mad trip into the heart of big brother.
Park Circus asked me to help film and edit the Director's interview for the film's first ever release on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK. This special in-depth interview with Tavernier was titled 'The Morality of Filmmaking', a 40 min personal journey covering the orgins of the film, working with writer David Rayfiel, stars Harvey Keitel, Harry Dean-Stanton and Romy Schneider, and what it was like shooting in Glasgow in 1980. The entire interview lasted 2 hours but the time flew by. He is the sort of chap you can happily sit and listen to for hours, Such enthusiasm for filmmaking and life. It really comes across in the interview with some wonderful stories and insights. Here is one of them.
