Tim, you studied Chinese for a few months at Capital U and were then capable of taking classes at Beijing Normal taught in Chinese? That's beyond impressive.
I've been to China a few times, the flight should be 13-15 hours. Hand sanitizer is essential, pocket packs of tissues, anything else you want. But really, the South's food is known to be a bit lighter than the North. I have never had foreigner's stomach, but I eat that food on a normal basis as a child of parents from Guangzhou. Make sure that you eat at CLEAN restaurants, yet at the same time, try some street food. It's fun, and the tea fields are gorgeous. Enjoy your trip, guys!
"Been all over the US, Mexico, Canada ... eh.. doesn't really count" LOL! Does that mean Canada doesn't really count? or travel in North America? (Safe travels. sounds like fun)
Guys, China isn't as "Third World" as you might think. all those immunizations might be a little overkill!
nevertheless, with Tim and his Chinese, you guys are going to get along fine with the locals :) Safe travels!
J/K, have a great time and keep the film rolling...love your clips.
Good luck with the elbow.
