Posted July 4, my Mansun-Paul Draper tribute sequel to Wide Open Space also tries a bit of a narrative around Independence Day. Ref includes Swan, (Library of Congress), helicopter flights over NYC, NASA moon launches, alien visits and a tribute to MJ in the sky. Last but not least, there’s the triumph of your Hudson River landing of Flight 1549. Happy Independence Day.

    Great job Chris!

I especially admire your city and overhead helicopter shots. This was well thought out and the editing was fantastic. I can only imagine how long it must have taken to put this together.

    Keep up the good work,
    Sasha

Thx Sasha: When I look at my helicopter shots over The Hudson now, I think of that amazing water landing miracle. NYC-Washington DC-Obama 'n v.positive ID inspired things made the long work worthwhile.

    I'll keep trying, Chris

    Cool ‘n helpful b, thx.
U know ur vid vimeo.com/3719996 that u asked me to vote? I like 'idea' of TSL experiment, but can u explain the images ‘n audio in that vid (& its exhibition) and what they are?
  • Chris Simon plus 5 months ago
Hey b, music same as WOS1:Mansun's Wide Open Space;but Trouser Enthusiasts' Hermaphrodite Circus Mix. I think it's unbelievable;-a club dance anthem.

    hi chris,

that video is a bit of a trailer for this group -http://www.vimeo.com/groups/simplelies
where the experiment is explained in more detail and all the clips so far can be found. in terms of the images and audio it was intended as a hommage to early Godard (e.g. a bout de souffle, etc.) which I'd been watching a lot of at the time.

    hope this helps,

    bjb

p.s. i know it was a remix but i preferred the other version you used. if you're thinking of doing another version i'd be interested to see how you'd match your style to a live version like the one performed on TFI...
  • Chris Simon plus 5 months ago
hi b, thx 4 explaining. I like that French New Wave cinema era too. There's a band in Oz called 'Cut Copy' who I think are inspired by that genre (?)...That live TFI is brill, as is 'Later with Jools'; but I'm not sure if I'll be doing any more WOS; although I hav a 'conclusion concept'. CUL8R 'n thx 4 support-CS.
