Jacob Destiny he Sent | ID# shabb-113012-jacob-he-sent

Torah: Gen 32:3-36:4 Va Yishlach “and he Sent” Jacob sends messengers before him to his brother Esau, but Jacob now is fulfilling God’s destiny for him and all of Israel! Jacob prepares to meet his brother but fear sets in when he hears Esau is bringing with him 400 men. It is shortly after this Jacob wrestles with a man until daybreak and winds up with a blessing. He also gets a name change from Jacob to Israel and is halting on his thigh.

Jacob meets his brother, goes to Shechem where Dinah his daughter is raped. then the brothers of Dinah avenge their sisters. This brings Jacob to leave and finds himself at Bethel. Again here God appears to him and gives him the covenant again and reaffirms his name as Israel. We also see life come and go as we follow these Patriarchs and Jacob is no different as Benjamin is born and Rachel dies in childbirth. We then witness Isaac's death. From the loins of Isaac we have the line through Jacob which is now Israel. Israel will continue to grow and eventually end up in Egypt. Esau will become Edom with princes of his own being descended. But the enmity between Israel and Edom never disappear and it will come to a head when God judges them for the way they treated Israel their brother. Obadiah speaks to this issue.

Don't miss this episode of Warn Radio as the Watchman goes through the life and events of Jacob. It is here that we as believers can learn much. There are many types and lessons for us today. Here we find an ageless God, Jehovah who oversees his promise to Abraham through multiple generations. The same God today who sent his Son Yeshua Ha Massiach [Jesus Christ] is the same God of Abraham. It is this God in whom we can find favor, blessing, guidance, and grace with mercy.

Gen 32:3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and women servants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
