Mrs. Yvonne Amonkwah doesn't have to pay for gas to cook with in her home. She lives within meters of an abandoned landfill. While the landfill has obvious health implications on the ground, it has even more serious affects underneath layers of trash. The landfill produces so much heat, that Mrs. Amonkwah's front yard is an outlet for copious amounts of methane gas. While this uncontrolled production of landfill gas can be extremely dangerous, could a properly managed version of this make great strides in a country where energy reliability and waste management are both huge issues?
