A small project for my Social Media Mashup class, wherein we used WeVideo to "mash" files to create a video. Here I used video and audio from a ring shout performance I attended in the summer of 2012. The ring shout dancers, Rashida Bumbray and Dance Diaspora Collective featuring Professor Adenike Shapley, Oberlin College, were apart of a month-long Saturday Garden Party organized and held at Weeksville Heritage Center located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York. The remaining video clips are various interpretations of African and African American dance. I selected the various clips to not only coincide with the music (though my editing is subpar), but also to exemplify the connection of dance, music, and body within the realm of the African Diaspora.
