Today marks the official beginning of the New Church Year and its first season, Advent, the season of preparing for the "Coming Christ". Advent is based on the Latin, "Adventus" which means "com in". In today's text from Revelation, St. John sees the image of the Church being represented as a Bride, the Bride of Christ, a Bride that has been waiting for her Groom to appear throughout this New Testament age of chaos and sorrow. May we, the Church, never forget our identity as the Bride of Christ…no matter how long we wait for His coming.
