Facing increased competition from imported fertiliser pallets Bridewood Pallets in Lissarda, took the decision to modernise and automate their existing timber pallet making facility from a manual operation making 200 pallets a day to an updated automated manufacturing system that can make up to 1,200 a day. This involved purchasing and installing a fully automatic pallet making machine and a semi-automatic block pallet making machine as well as an automatic nailing machine, an automatic pallet stacker and associated conveyers. The WCDP provided 50% funding toward this investment which will in turn contribute to an estimated 50% growth in turnover in the coming five years as output is significantly increased.
