“MU BHUBANESWAR” is an installation cum performance based on the novel Dasyu by a well-known Oriya writer Hrusikesh Panda, I.A.S. The novel narrates a story of a man named Bhubaneswar and a city named Bhubaneswar. The man Bhubaneswar is a metaphorical representation of the city. By exploring the character of man-Bhubaneswar (his life, his journey and the decay), the act shows the ironic establishment and institutions of the capital city of Orissa, ‘Bhubaneswar’.

As a reader and being an artist myself, I tried to image and play with the novel. In the installation the artist is performing the character Bhubaneswar. My intention here is to live the ironic life of the city and to feel its energy. I am exploring the much “said” definition of the city. I am focusing on a particular situation of Bhubaneswar’s decay in the novel.
