I edited some old super 8 footage found at home, which shows some of my family members visiting Milan for the first time, between end of 50's and beginning of 60's, when in Italy occurred the social and economical trasformation called "boom".
Most of the people you see in the video had never got out of their hometowns, had never seen a big city, but, most of all, they had never visited a place so architecturally advanced as the one in which they are shown in these images.
The people in the video are clearly shocked by what they are seeing, and their reaction could be classified between fear, astonishment and a sort of admiration for what will be next:
It's a bit like they had done a 25-years time warp; like they were previewing the future, the "new order".

jenny 2 years agothis is *so beautiful* im curious to know more about it, it seems almost haunting towards the end...and being so silent in the beginning makes the calm figures feel restless... -
Tallulah 2 years agoEerie footage. Almost Zapruder-esque in that it made me feel like something "bad" was about to happen. Or maybe already had happened. I liked it. -
Brooklyn Kitchen 2 years agoI wonder what are they looking at? Is this of recent vintage that has been aged? Would love to see it slowed down to half speed. -
