Sports Illustrated writer and author of "Heart of the Game: Life, Death, and Mercy in Minor League America," Scott Price reads about the tragic death of minor league "lifer" Mike Coolbaugh.
Gelf's Varsity Letters sports reading series returned to New York on Thursday, July 2, with a night dedicated to baseball and tennis. At this free monthly event at a DUMBO art gallery, hosted by Gelf, members of the NY Daily News sports investigative team, Scott Price and Selena Roberts spoke about their work covering America's national pastime. Price has the wrenching tale of the life and death of a minor-leaguer. Roberts will speak about her controversial biography of Alex Rodriguez. And the Daily News team will discuss its exposé of Roger Clemens and steroids in baseball.
