Samsãra is a video project from a long experimental process of creation. Recordings of public performances (Dansoir of Karine Saporta, Paris / National Center for Dance, Pantin 93 / Le Grand Réservoir, Kremlin Bicêtre...) are used as audio / video materials, embedded in a virtual way of a manual gluing.
Exhibited as an installation with a flashing colored cash register and a stand for strange consumer goods, the SAMSÃRA video shows a metaphorical fable on the concept of desire and its ambivalence (the movement it impulses / the dissatisfaction it generates).
A solitary blue masked character wanders aimlessly through a urban no man's land created by a virtual editing of natural and industrial landscapes photographed around the world (mainly in Iceland, Japan and France).
In contact with everyday objects but devoid of meaning, this being almost animal tries by a strange ritual of making one with the object of his desire and its environment, in the permanent frustration of never being able to be these ones.
Through these unknown spaces saturated with undifferentiated symbols (esoteric, trivial, security, religious, advertising ...), the crossing turns into an initiatic and cathartic experience, furiously funny and dramatic at the same time.
Neither short film nor contemporary dance performance or musical concert, Samsara is perhaps all at once, inviting the viewer to project themselves with empathy in this strange mirror-world.
Dedicated to Beatrice Martin.
