One of my favorite countries is the Philippines. One of the biggest issues in this amazing country is the lack of transportation for kids in rural areas and my friend, Joel Uichico has helped develop a program to alleviate that situation by teaming with the non profit, Bikes for the World. This organization takes in used and sometimes new bikes and ships them to those in need so they can benefit from our castaways. The bikes are loaded into shipping containers, moved to the host country, in this case Bohol in the Philippines, reconditioned and distributed to school age children who may not have been able to attend school because of their life situation. The only requirement, they need to finish school if they want to keep the bikes. This is a short teaser of a load out of bikes in Virginia on the 26th and 29th of November. A special thanks to the Bolandrina family who drove down from Massachusetts to volunteer their time and energy for this project and the rest of the Bikes for the World Crew... More to come.....
