We thought it would be fun to put together an entry for this year's I.D. Magazine Annual Review. As frequent travelers, we were particularly inspired by the project brief: design a graphic, object, or environment that would improve the experience of air travel.

We thought our approach was a good mix of practicality and inspiration, a premium loyalty service enabled by helpful bits of technology that would ease the pain and smooth the turbulence of business travel. Did we expect to win? Absolutely. Even though the judges didn’t share our enthusiasm, we’re happy with what we came up with, and we wanted to share it with you.

Interesting but the idea of having yet another digital gadget to keep track of is a deterrence. At the UX Week conference, we designed a very similar program using GPS-equipped PDAs as a platform. The technology allows the airline to push updated travel schedule info and issues to the PDA, maps of terminals and parking lots, locations of vendors and food in airports, etc. It doesn't allow for RFID tracking of baggage, however. Is that single aspect worth keeping up with extra hardware? Does that happen often enough to warrant the expense?

Oh, btw, in IE, your video link from the newsletter email showed up aligned far right in my browser window. Most of the right pane was obscured by the edge of the browser and resizing did not help. The time track disappeared once the time reached 5+ minutes and I never saw all of the video playing in that pane.

@Jim thanks for the heads up on the IE issue. There appears to be a (frustratingly inconsistent) issue with the Vimeo player when embedded at large sizes. We've changed the way we link to it on the post page. Should work now. (You can always just play from this page, too.)
