This is the story of Greenpeace's vessel, the Beluga, and her journey down the Mississippi River. On the way she encounters many violations of the Clean Water Act but she also encounters the individuals and organizations who are working to clean up this great river and her tributaries.
I co-produced, directed, and edited this program through my company, Cherchez La Femme Productions. It was co-produced by Karen Hirsch and Greempeace USA. It has won many awards and enjoyed a widespread distribution since its initial release in 1990. We got grants to send VHS copies (remember those?) for free to classrooms and grassroots environmental organizations across the US. Most recently portions of it are featured in Mark Kitchell's film, "A Fierce Green Fire". It is distributed by The Video Project in San Francisco, CA.
