I love 50's and 60's-style animation. The cool abstract stuff in particular. It has such a sophisticated feel to it. When I was given this project, it was another one of those where the client had no idea what he wanted to do. He had these tasting events coming up and that was about all the information he provided. To me, tasting events have a posh, hipster sort of feel to them, so that's what I did here. I used a kitschy jazz music bed, mixed with ambient party sounds, and (of course) French phrases. French is, after all, the international language of culture and sophistication. The graphic elements were built in Photoshop, the animation was put together in AfterEffects, the audio mix and everything else was done in AVID.
