A combat boot sculpture inspired by a story my grandfather told me about the time he spent fighting in the Korean War. The sculpture is made of sugar and filled with mud- as water from an American flag drips onto the boot, the mud begins to show through the cracks of the sweet facade, a metaphor for how it first seems sweet and right to die for your country, but when looking past the surface, you see the ugly sadness that is actually created by death.
