Made with Flint, a C++ framework being developed by Barbarian Group. No audio.

Continuing my C++ studying. Andrew Bell thought it would be a good next step to port my Java force studies to C++. The concepts there aren't too difficult but it would require me to make use of pointers and references, which are concepts that make sense until its time to start typing. But I am getting closer to my goal of being able to recreate the Fuji project in C++.

In this video, 100,000 particles (runs fullscreen in realtime with 35,000 particles) are being pulled and shoved by a combination of rotational forces and gravitational forces. The gravity attracts the nearby particles to its center, causing a bright flare, whereas the rotational forces create gaps in the particle field. It is quite mesmerizing and I look forward to experiencing on a multi-touch surface at some point.

Yikes, Vimeo didnt like compressing that video one bit.

hey yeah what the hell, I seem to remember vimeo being amazing quality, especially if you have plus.. what happened??? this vid has some really fascinating potential. Do all programmers wind up in C++ eventually? (I started out in C++ and wound up going backwards I guess)

Just a little tip, looking upon the size of your video which is over 360 mb, I guess you are using uncompressed quicktime. As vimeo uses ffmpeg for compression, the quality will be extremely crushed. So in quicktime export the final video into H264 codec with best quality settings and vimeo will have amazing quality.

    compression should be better now.

Much better! Thanks. May I ask if this is something I should have done myself? Im a bit confused.

Awesome. though I miss some early processing stuff. Are you done with processing? For good?

As amazing as this recent stuff is, I really love the style and aesthetics of the somewhat early processing stuff. Out of the recent work, I think the radiohead music video is my favourite.

Though on a technical level, I appreciate the snakes and this C++ engine.

Robert, do you use a capture card to export your work to video?

impressive. If you need a multi-touch surface to play with, I have fairly portable LLP multi-touch setup with an ultra wide angle projector and will be in California later in the year.
