A hunting trip on Molokai, in Hawaii. Select black and white photos that I put into a slideshow.

Hunting is essential on Molokai, and in most of Hawaii to control feral goats and pigs that eat all the vegetation. With the vegetation gone, there is nothing to hold the soil, which washes into the ocean, and blankets the reef with silt eventually killing it. There are some parts of Molokai reef area that have been accumulating 1ft of silt every year for the past 100 years. With no natural predators on the island, its easy to see why.

But hunting at its core is really about getting closer to nature, stalking your prey as humans have done for thousands of years, living off the land and discovering a little more about yourself, and your place on this earth.

Note: although I consider all of my photos and videos "art", and most of the photos would indeed be considered benign to most viewers, there are a few that may warrant viewer discretion. If hunting disturbs you for some reason, please do not view this video.
