Wandering Wheels' December ride began at nine (plus a half) in the morning. The Three Horse Ranch vineyard graciously allowed us to park our cars there for the full day while we bicycled our 32 mile Montour loop. At the summit of Sand Hollow, Johnson Creek Road seemed frozen and tempted us downward on its seemingly hard, grit, gravel and clay. Our wheels began to thicken as we dropped in elevation and mud clung to everything. Fenders clogged and motion stopped. We could not back down, or up. It took awhile, but we finally got to the Triangle Cafe in Montour. Warm and well-fed, we made the return journey before darkness fell and enjoyed a toast at 3HR.
Music: "Good Enough" by Ugly Valley Boys, "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty, "I'll Always Be Waiting For You" by Sarah Hull, "You Know Too Much About Flying Saucers" by William Orbit.
