On faith, work, leisure & sleep is an interdisciplinary project consisting of a series of six pieces for piano, pianist's voice, text, electronics, and video. The project is a collaborative effort by Emilie LeBel (composer), and Luciane Cardassi (pianist). The project represents the composer’s interest in combining visual art with concert music, and the pianist’s interest in incorporating multimedia works into her repertoire. Both were interested in exploring the composer-performer collaborative work process during the creation of this project. The central focus of the project was working with Canadian Poet Sue Sinclair’s work. Each piece has been based on one of her poems selected from her collection “Breaker”. With each piece we engaged with the text in a different way from thematic content, to structural framework.
