This film documents the Good Life Initiative, an 18 month project that took place in New Earswick near York. The project funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation held a series of activities during 2011 and 2012 which had the aim of building and sustaining community resilience. The film features a lot of the people from the village who contributed to the project as well as students and staff from Joseph Rowntree School who held their own Earth Summit to coincide with the event taking place in Rio. The project culminated in the planting of 400 trees to mark the Queen's Jubilee on land next to the River Foss. The first tree (the Royal Oak) was planted by the Lord Mayor of York. SEI would like to thank all those people who took part in the Good Life and in making this film.
