Loved this. Been using C4D for many years and done hours and hours of tutorials, from Cineversity to CreativeCow, and none of them ever mentioned these handy dandy secret shortcuts. Is this something new in v11 or does everyone else on the web SUCK :)

    Nicely done, and supremely useful

    cheers

Thanks so much! Yeah, I try to cover some of the lesser-known aspects of the program.

I think most people stick to the usual tuts and just don't experiment much outside of them, so the knowledge pool tends to maintain the status quo. Trying to change that. :D

That is very useful thanks, I'm guessing it works on any extruded spline shapes with caps also... I couldn't make it work at first until I realised they had to be capitals ie C1 not c1. This will save me so much time and frustration from doing manual selections. Thankyou

Yep, works on any extruded spline. And they do need to be capitalized. ;)

Very well done. Thanks for the tips. I agree with you that a lot of fonts that are being used out there are the most dull thing ever created. Now that the potential to have unlimited creativity is out there, we're going back to dullness.

Funny how having so much freedom is almost paralyzing, isn't it?

I don't know - I think there's a tendency to keep brand names and logo type as plain as possible nowadays, especially considering you'll be reproducing it on a lot of different (non-video) formats. Creatives can be real sticklers with their logo type, which is probably why Syfy wanted to keep it as plain and adaptable as possible.

That being said, this is a great tutorial for how to really have fun with text in C4D. I've definitely learned a couple things. And I love the accordion effect. I'll have to try it out soon.

Thanks a lot for this very nice tut on c4d. I consider myself a long time user of c4d and if i learn something new in a tutorial i usualy means the tut was good.
Never knew of the C1,R1 option. Thanks for that.

Great tutorial! Loved to see this stuff.
About the video you showed in the begining... I think they just wanted to keep it minimalistic.

    Thank you!! =D
