Very innovative and creative! Though I'm not sure I understood the story/plot there lol mind sharing a little insight? Great visuals, loved the cinematography!

Agree with Krrish. Also, sound is a little weak. Music is perfectly melancholic.
I find the sliced up image a great delight and the subtle color very refreshing. Nice work J.

Brings early Polanski to mind. The simultaneous action in the fractured screen was wonderful. However, the bloodied/dead female figure needs - demands - more narrative relaease. Can't let you get away with that. It's too sophisticated a film to rely on paintings and books to explain the killer's motivation to the viewer without a diving a bit deeper - hard to do without being on the nose, but given your previous work, not something that can't be attained. Still, I like this film and where you and your group are going. I just want more! can't wait for you next film. Just don't let yourself off easy. The work is too good for that.

The multi screen narrative is a great idea and offers lots of interesting possibilities. This is what excites me about this little film. It was a little bit too clean for me. A story doesn't necessarily need a plot, (Sleep Furiously) but does require strong characters (or strong metaphorical images) to keep it watchable. For me, this wasn't there this time. It was a difficult role for the Waking Artist actor as his unconscious desires and inner emotions could only be expressed through outer facial expressions because of so little dialogue, and I don't think he managed that as well compared to Waking artist. This is why Brad Pitt can't do it for me in many of his films because he can't act using his face alone., although to some degree he did well in Jesse James. Still, all said and done, keep exploring, and we'll keep watching. Better to have comments, good or bad, than to have no comments at all.

  • Interesting. I don't think I fully understood it either. Very "Thomas Crown Affair", 1960's version.
