This is the first episode of Interior Traces, a new radio play with accompanying video works and new musical score exploring how different ways of looking at the brain change how we think about the mind, madness, and responsibility. The project was funded by the Wellcome Trust, LCACE, and UCL, and details of the project, team, live events and broadcasts are at interiortraces.com

Catherine, a married woman in her mid-30s, starts to behave erratically and uncontrollably. She consults a neurologist, who believes in the organic basis of her behaviour but can do no more than recommend a rest cure. As her illness develops, the doctor revises his diagnosis to a brain tumour, and discusses the possibility of brain surgery with her husband.
