Just got my Panasonic FZ200 and wanted to see what it sounds like using an inexpensive Audio Technica AT3350 wired lavalier mic. I've found that the onboard mics are not that impressive so this seems to be a good alternative for shooting any kind of tutorial, blog or review video. This is the mic going straight into the camera via a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter. The camera does not have any kind of audio adjustments. The AGC is sensitive, so in post I did a little noise reduction to get rid of some background hiss caused by it.
The video itself was shot in Manual movie mode at ISO 400, f2.8, 1/60 shutter in the Natural picture profile at 1080p60. Edited in Premiere CS5 and exported at 720p23.976 with some mild adjustments to saturation and 3 way as well as a little noise reduction with Neat Video.
All in all, I'm getting used to the camera as it's very similar in form to the GH2. The zoom is outstanding and it takes very nice stills as well. Great all around travel camera. Will do more testing soon to see how well it does in low light and motion scenes as well.
