Please forgive the sound level, and video quality of this tutorial. Blenders intensive usage openGL gave Camtasia some problems. All future lessons will have this problem solved.

Are all your tutorials in quicktime format?

If not, then you might note that Vimeo will be replacing all formats of original uploaded videos to a Quicktime format (first of August?).... unless, you have subscribed to Vimeo Plus.

I am not sure how this will effect the quality of your tutorial video's but the conversion may render them not useable/readable... details about this conversion are noted in the announcement portion of this site.

I thought you might just want to be aware of this so that your long list of useful tutuorials will not be rendered unuseable.

I think they stated in the Blog that they were only not hosting original source files any longer and removing all original uploaded files so that they will no longer be available to download. As far as I read there will be no change to the actual player videos as those are converted upon upload no matter what anyhow.

Could you give me a link to the announcement that you are referring too? Thank you for the heads up, and I will look for your link.

I don't think they are "removing" the original files...however, they are converting the original uploaded files to a common quicktime file format... conversion of original files to a quicktime format could reduce the quality of the video and degradate the tutorial... a lot depends upon how much detail was included in the original file format... and, how that translates to a quicktime file format.

I was under the impression that every video is already converted upon upload and the original uploaded source file is also stored and made available for download. From reading that BLOG post I didnt really gather that they were changing anything with the players as every single video that plays in the player is already converted.

I guess I gather that from the fact that upon upload we have to wait an additional period for the video to be converted by Vimeo to a format that can be utilized by the player. I did not think they used the source file as the video that is actually played...

I could be wrong but I dont think the quality of the players videos will change at all, I think that only the original source files are no longer be stored on a long term basis. I honestly dont mind not having original source file available anyhow as I was contemplating removing them due to piracy (people claiming them as theirs). But if the quality changes that will be something to make me consider upgrading my account.

The one played is converted... but, my understanding is that the downloadable file will be converted to a quicktime format.

Therefore, if you have ... say... an AVI originally uploaded file... only a mp4 file will be available for downloadonce this conversion takes place (in auguest?).
