An improvised performance on a Temporary Music Machine.

Binary numbers create varying patterns of on and off. The device featured in this film (a "Temporary Music Machine") uses two binary counters controlled by the performer to map these patterns to chord structures and drum sequences (via MIDI). Other controls allow for additional elements of the music to be varied.

The device is only intended to be temporary. A handmade bespoke electronic musical instrument for a limited number of performances. It is based on the Arduino platform and realised through an iterative rather then planned process.

Hey Slo, thanks buddy appreciated. I haven't pulled together any documentation. Schematic wise it's all pretty much from the Arduino site. If you Google "arduino LED" or "arduino switch" or "arduino potentiometer" you'll find the Arduino tutorials. I'm no electronics engineer so it's not too difficult. I do have some notes on the MIDI in/out which I used and you're welcome to the source code. Let me know if you want them.

I used some MIDI library that I can't find right now but I spotted this yesterday ruinwesen.com/mididuino and I reckon it's the way to go! Cool stuff.
