Project Alice, Hyper Island
We were playing around with the concept of Alice in Wonderland and how she got stuck in the house constricting her when the house changed. We believe this strongly relates to the feelings of domestic violence victims at home.
We created an interactive hub with the main point being the metaphorical Alice in her house. The house symbolizes her sense of security, freedom and self confidence with these changing as the house shrink and grows.
We didn’t want to take a visually violent approach. Instead we want to give people control. Viewers can expand the house by tweeting our hashtag or ignore Alice, and let the house shrink.
The hub hosts a number of features:
We decided to integrate a twitter feed with recent tweets including our unique hashtag #harm2home.
A comparison between the number of victims and number of tweets.
• We included the IRC logo where viewers can be directed to more information and an option to donate.
We used Twitter as a medium because of it’s enormous potential to become viral through influential people as well as the masses.
