Did you do most of the pan and tilt movements through key framing in post? A lot of the best time lapse I see does this.
  • Michael Marantz plus 4 months ago
I do a little combination of both...for the big pan and tilt shots I actually have a rotating tripod head... but for the subtle moves I use after effects to create a move

You did this with a D90? I didn't think it had an intervalometer? Did you use the movie mode? If so, weren't some of those clips longer than 5 minutes? I've been trying to figure out how to do something like this with the Nikon SLRs so your input would be greatly appreciated. The shots driving where the center is focused and the trees blur off the side is very cool, how did you achieve that?
  • Michael Marantz plus 4 months ago
I did use the d90 and i bought a 3rd party intervalometer to take my shots. I used to do it using Nikon Camera Control on my mac. I also do a lot of different work with 12-stop ND filters to capture some of the stuff during the day. Long exposures during the day time

how do you get your panning to go so fluidly. are you doing that all by hand? Its so precise!

also what kind've set up do you have? This is so good!
  •
  • what kind of lens did you use at 41 secs? If you have the time man you should blog about the process of this film. I think a lot of people including myself would find it very interesting. Great work.

    absolutely amazing. 97638561937593/10

did you use a real tilt/shift lens or was the effect added in post production?

...or did you use a lens baby???
